FAQ
Is sword swallowing real?
“Yes! Sword swallowing is an ancient art, and is currently practiced by just a handful of women in the world. I am a member of SSAI (Sword Swallowers Association International), and in order be included in the association, one must prove that one can perform sword swallowing for real. For Hans Rosling’s book, X-rays of me swallowing a sword were taken by the radiologist and chief physician Staffan Bremmer.”
Is it dangerous?
“Very dangerous! Sword swallowing and fire performances are very dangerous. Do NOT attempt these acts if you are not a trained sword swallower or fire artist. I have been performing these disciplines for over 10 years professionally and have, through rigorous practice and safety procedures, been able to do so without sustaining damage.”
Is it scary to watch?
“Most people find it very thrilling and exciting, a real conversation starter that audience members remember! A bit scary, but it is also a lot of fun. The audience and I joke with each other, and sometimes I let an audience member come up on stage and pull out a sword! I have performed at dinner shows, corporate events, parties, cabarets and circus shows, and my acts are adapted to fit a wide range of audiences and events and can be customized or created to fit your show or event.”
